HonorHealth Foundation collecting toys, water donations

HonorHealth Foundation, which supports the hospital with charitable events and projects, is running a toy drive and water drive this month.

Remember how comforting it was to hold your favorite stuffed animal when you were sick? Being sick or hurt is hard for us all, but for children in the hospital, it can be downright scary. Today, HonorHealth’s toy boxes are nearly empty, according to a newsletter.

With support of the toy drive, boxes can fill to the top.

Make tax-deductible donations to the HonorHealth Toy Fund so that young patients can receive toys to help them through the hospital scaries.

  • $5 will help purchase toys like plastic cars, playdoh, or coloring books.
  • $15 will help purchase toys like musical toys, baby dolls, or board games.
  • $25 will help purchase toys like stuffed animals, crafting kits, or dinosaurs.

Donations of any amount make an impact, the newsletter stated. If you make a donation of $50 or more, HonorHealth Foundation will send a stuffed animal to the HonorHealth hospital location of your choice in your name.

Additionally, HonorHealth’s new partner Penske is holding a water drive for HonorHealth Desert Mission Food Bank through Aug. 31. Donations of a pack of water of any size will be directed to the Valley’s vulnerable families who rely on the food bank for their daily nutrition, which includes water in this record-breaking heat, according to the newsletter.

Desert Mission is combating hunger across the spectrum of income by helping to bridge nutrition gaps that negatively affect the health and well-being of community residents and HonorHealth patients alike.

You can donate water throughout August at any of the Penske dealerships located within the Scottsdale 101 auto complex, which includes Acura, Audi, Bentley, Land Rover, Mini, Mercedes-Benz, Porshe, and Volkswagen.

For a scheduled drop-off, bring a case (or more) of water to the Penske Racing Museum on Aug. 19 between 7 a.m. and noon.
