Homes for the holidays: Phoenix donates city-owned land for affordable housing

The city of Phoenix is gifting eight families an affordable home for the holidays.

The city is donating city-owned property to Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona in exchange for the nonprofit building eight affordable housing townhomes. City council approved the disposition and development agreement 9-0 in its last meeting of the year on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The 0.6-acre property is next to John F. and Mary P. Long Park, northwest of Glendale Avenue and Interstate 17.
