Homelessness up in Peoria in annual count

More people across region living unsheltered as well

Homelessness is up 16% in Peoria this year, which follows the county trend, according to Maricopa Association of Government’s annual Point-in-Time count.

Volunteers fanned out across the city and the rest of the county on Jan. 29 to count those experiencing homelessness and found there were 95 unsheltered individuals living in Peoria at that time.

Living unsheltered could include sleeping in parks, cars, and other places not meant for habitation.
