Homeland Security agents arrest Mexican national for harboring 12 in Phoenix stash house

A 30-year-old man was arrested this week and charged with “harboring illegal aliens” in Phoenix, federal officials said Friday.

On Oct. 7, agents with Homeland Security Investigations executed a federal search warrant at a Phoenix home “suspected of being a stash house for illegal aliens,” according to a release from the Arizona division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Investigators found 12 people hiding in a closet, and the suspect, Hector Ambrosio Ruiz of Mexico, was found among the dozen individuals and was the only one wearing shoes, the release stated. Law enforcement confirmed that all are citizens of foreign countries without legal authority to live in the United States.
