North America's largest privately owned homebuilder, Mattamy Homes, has announced that it has closed on a multimillion-dollar land purchase in Queen Creek.

The 153-acre property, known as Empire Pointe, will be purchased for $33 million and is approved for 533 home sites. The first phase of the deal closed on Thursday, July 1. The community will be located at the northwest corner of Empire Boulevard and Gary Road.

"Our team is extremely enthusiastic about this major acquisition, as it represents the latest example of our company's commitment to having an important presence in the East Valley, and of our confidence in the future of housing locally," said Don Barrineau, president of Mattamy's Phoenix division, in a press release. "Queen Creek is one of the most highly desirable and fastest-growing areas in the market, with good schools, excellent recreation opportunities and up-and-coming employment centers. We're excited that Mattamy is going to be a big part of the future growth here."

The acquisition of Empire Pointe, which comes on the heels of Mattamy's substantial land closing in San Tan Valley last month, represents the largest real estate purchase for Mattamy Homes in Arizona in the last 10 years and the largest for Mattamy Homes United States in the last three years.

Mattamy will introduce newly developed floorplans at Empire Pointe, consisting of 35-foot wide, 45-foot wide and 55-foot-wide single-family homes. A centrally located amenity area will include a fitness center, outdoor pool and hot tub, social spaces with seating, fireplace and cooking areas, pickleball and basketball courts, park areas with play equipment, covered ramadas and walking paths.

Construction of eight model homes at Mattamy's Empire Pointe community is expected to being in July 2022 with an anticipated community opening in October 2022.

In May, Mattamy Homes announced it had closed on a land purchase in San Tan Valley in the San Tan Heights master-planned community. The 85-acre property, purchased for $20.56 million, is final platted for 324 home sites. Mattamy's new community will be known as Pinnacle at San Tan Heights.

Mattamy will be offering new and established single-family home designs of various lot sizes, serving a wide array of future homebuyers including young couples, young and mature families and empty nesters. Pinnacle at San Tan Heights will offer residents a community park with play structures, ramadas and natural open space.

San Tan Valley offers residents easy access to freeways, connecting them to major employment centers in ChandlerMesa and beyond. The area is served by the Florence Unified School District, and the zoned schools earn above-average ratings. Charter schools are also available in the area.

The San Tan Heights master-planned community will be home to approximately 4,800 homes upon completion. The overall community offers residents an aquatic and recreation center, located just one mile from Mattamy's property. The aquatic center includes a resort-style pool with beach entry, open swim area, lap lanes and shaded seating. The recreation building offers a fitness center, prep kitchen, meeting and activity rooms and outdoor gathering area. There are also numerous parks and playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts, green belts and 6 miles of paths and trails.

Mattamy's Pinnacle at San Tan Heights community is expected to be open for sale in late summer 2022.
