Governor makes 1st official stop in city for homelessness shelter

Events are clearly big when it brings the governor to town.

Such was the case Feb. 2 when new Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs made her first official Surprise visit to help open a new housing shelter for young homeless adults.

“I’m the first governor to be a social worker,” Hobbs told a packed crowd who came for the opening of HomeBase Surprise, 12215 W. Bell Road.
