Buying a holiday pie from One Step Beyond, Inc., may not only make your next dinner party, it will make the season of the one who made it.
One Step Beyond’s mission is to provide dynamic programs such as job training, life skills training and fitness programs to adults with intellectual disabilities and their families, “So they may achieve their goals and become fully participating members of our communities,” according to the nonprofit’s website.
One way they do that is through the Sweet Initiative, in which members bake pies, from classic apple to decadent bourbon pecan, and cookies as well as make charcuterie trays and hot cocoa for sale during the holiday season. Festive artwork made by members is also up for sale.
