Holiday in rear view: ADOT schedules weekend freeway work

PHOENIX – Ramp closures dominate weekend freeway work in the Valley as crews deal with a variety of projects following a Labor Day break.

Here is what is planned from Friday night, Sept. 5, until Monday morning, Sept. 8, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation:

  • The northbound Interstate 17 off-ramp at Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for setting a work zone as part of a project to widen the exit.

PHOENIX – Ramp closures dominate weekend freeway work in the Valley as crews deal with a variety of projects following a Labor Day break.

Here is what is planned from Friday night, Sept. 5, until Monday morning, Sept. 8, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation:

  • The northbound Interstate 17 off-ramp at Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for setting a work zone as part of a project to widen the exit.

Detour: Consider exiting northbound I-17 to westbound Dove Valley Road and using southbound 43rd Avenue to reach westbound Loop 303. 

  • The eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Price Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Sunday for a widening project. 

Detour: Consider using the eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Dobson Road.

  • The eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at McQueen Road and eastbound off-ramp at Cooper Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for a widening project.

 Detours: Consider entering eastbound Loop 202 at Cooper Road or exiting at McQueen Road.

  • The eastbound Loop 101 ramp to southbound State Route 51 will be closed overnight from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday for construction. 

Detours: Consider using southbound Cave Creek Road or Tatum Boulevard to Union Hills Drive to reach southbound SR 51.

Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other factors, state transportation officials said.
