Hobbs’ selection of Giles more than astute politically

Chandler reader responds to Question of the Week

OPINION — Gov. Katie Hobbs’ choice as her lieutenant governor was more than a politically shrewd choice.

She selected a highly respected, accomplished and experienced former Mesa mayor, John Giles.

Highly partisan politics at the national level has shown us gridlock and dangerous possible consequences. Most local governments in Arizona are nonpartisan. Members of political parties leave their labels behind to do the work of the people.
