Hit and run in Glendale causes life threatening injuries to pedestrian

Less than mile south of fatal car-bike crash Friday

Glendale Police officers responded near the intersection of 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10 in reference to reports a pedestrian and vehicle collision.

When officers arrived, they learned the vehicle who hit the pedestrian failed to remain on scene. The victim sustained life threatening injuries  and was transported to a local hospital.

The roadway was restricted while the Glendale Police Department conducted an investigation.

Hit and run in Glendale causes life threatening injuries to pedestrian

Glendale Police officers responded near the intersection of 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10 in reference to reports a pedestrian and vehicle collision.

When officers arrived, they learned the vehicle who hit the pedestrian failed to remain on scene. The victim sustained life threatening injuries  and was transported to a local hospital.

The roadway was restricted while the Glendale Police Department conducted an investigation.

Those who may have information about the driver or vehicle in the hit and run are asked to call the Glendale Police Department at 800-222-TIPS or Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.

This accident was less than a mile south of a fatal car-bicyclist accident near 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at 59th Ave. and McLellan Road, which is just south of Glendale Avenue.

The bicyclist, 47-year old Emiliano Zapata Olivan, died before police arrived. Glendale Police said the driver stayed on the scene ad cooperated with detectives.
