Hines sentenced to 12 years in Preston Lord's death

William Owen Hines, 19, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the October 2023 beating death of 16-year-old Preston Lord has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

He also was sentenced to five years on an aggravated assault charge in connection with a drunk driving collision in July 2023 that left another teen with serious traumatic brain injuries.

The sentences will run consecutively. Hines is the first of Lord’s attackers to be sentenced.
