Higley USD reviews policy on staff conduct with students

The Higley Unified School District Governing Board examined a policy revision on staff conduct with students, one aimed to ensure staff members maintain appropriate boundaries with students consistent with professional, ethical, and legal standards.

The first read of the policy came at the Aug. 9 board meeting but no action was taken. A vote should happen after the second read, likely to happen at the Aug. 23 meeting.

The policy already explicitly prohibits "dating," "courtship," or "romantic involvement,” and Vice President Michelle Anderson suggested the addition of “grooming,” though board members wondered if that was already covered in the current language.
