Higley USD board scrutinizing routine items

Consent agenda, where routine items go to get passed quickly and without discussion by governing bodies, is getting more scrutiny from the newly formed Higley Unified School District Governing Board.

To keep meetings moving, district officials have encouraged board members to submit any questions they have from the agenda to the district before the board meetings. The district will submit answers and post the questions and the answers with the board’s agenda.

The district did this for the first time at its Feb. 8 meeting, the second business meeting for the newly formed board. Newcomers Amanda Wade and Anna Van Hoek have joined holdovers Kristina Reese, Michelle Anderson and Tiffany Shultz on the board.
