Higley board member 'disappointed' in district transparency

Van Hoek says parents left in dark about principal's departure

A Higley Unified School District Governing Board member released a statement Wednesday expressing disappointment in the district’s performance relating to a principal’s exit and calling for it to release more information.

Board Member Anna Van Hoek acknowledged that personnel matters are sensitive and that the law prevents their disclosure, but called for greater transparency from the district in regard to the resignation of Power Ranch Elementary School Principal Chris Reuter.

“I urge the district to provide some type of information without having to disclose the actual reason for the resignation,” she said.
