A morning rush hour traffic enforcement blitz on Interstate 10 through the West Valley resulted in nearly 200 stops and more than 200 citations, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The four-hour "Maximum Enforcement Detail" took place on May 19 between 6 and 10 a.m. State Troopers focused heavily on the high-traffic commuter stretch of I-10 between the Loop 303 and Loop 101 interchanges, which serves as a major route for Goodyear and Avondale residents.
The operation resulted in 197 total vehicle stops and 220 separate violations cited. High Occupancy Vehicle lane violations topped the list of offenses, with troopers issuing 98 citations to solo drivers illegally using the carpool lane.
