Highlighting the positives of the Big Beautiful Bill

I want to thank Steve Thomas, in his Sept. 10 letter, for highlighting some of the positive details from the Big Beautiful Bill about social security that my husband didn’t have room to include in his recent letter.

Everyone knows that income tax wasn’t eliminated when Republicans voted for the BBB. However, those who will receive the benefits that Steve expanded upon will be very pleased for the deductions that have been granted. We also have to remember that not one Democrat voted for the BBB, that included no tax on tips and no tax on overtime. That won’t affect some, but for hard-working Americans, they’ll be rewarded.

Let’s also be clear that those who voted for the bill, Republicans, delivered the largest tax cut in U.S. history. If the BBB had failed certain tax cuts, which had been in place, would have been canceled, because for those cuts to continue, they had to be renewed. All Democrats, by voting against the BBB, were in essence voting for a huge tax hike.
