Help coming to 1-mile Glendale roadway stretch with ‘significant’ safety issues

A one-mile stretch of roadway in Glendale that has long been eyed for safety improvements should get a big boost in that direction on Tuesday.

When the Glendale city council meets for its 5:30 p.m. voting meeting Tuesday, Sept. 13 inside council chambers, among the considerations will be entering into a joint agency agreement with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG). The agreement would accept the Roadway Safety Program grant funding for safety improvements along Olive Avenue between 59th and 67th avenues.

In July 2021, MAG completed a Roadway Safety Assessment for that section of the Olive Avenue Corridor, which recommended safety related improvements. Among those improvements are street lighting enhancements.
