SUN CITY - Helmut Michael Hoffmann, 78, of Sun City, died peacefully at home on Jan. 18, 2011. He was born to Matthias and Barbara (Wecker) Hoffmann in Konz, Germany April 10, 1932. Helmut immigrated to Reading, Pa., in November 1952. He entered the USA Army in July of 1953 transferred to Air force in July of 1956 and was Honorably Discharged in 1964. He attained citizenship in March of 1954. Helmut worked for Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent, retiring after 22 years of service. He was an avid traveler and jokester and was loved by many. Helmut is survived by sister, Magda Hoffmann of Bonn Gr.; sister-in-law, Anneliesa Hoffmann, Nephew Guenter; and niece, Monika Hoffmann of Konz,Germany. Also surviving are three nieces, Monika Bazis, Rosemary Cahill, Rita Behrenshausen; and sister-in-law, Elisabeth Hoffmann; along with three nephews, Matthew, Michael and Mark Hoffmann, all in the Reading, Pa., area. Helmut was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Peter of Konz and Otto of Wyomissing, Pa.; and a nephew, Robert Hoffmann. A small wake was held in his home on Sat.
