Helen Kevlin Gerick

SUN CITY WEST - Helen Gerick passed away on June 1, 2016. She resided in Sun City West, Ariz. She was born in Richmond, Va. on October 26, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Steve Gerick. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Helen Catherine and James Joseph Anthony; and her twin siblings, Delores McGillvrey and James "Jimmy" Anthony, Jr. Her sister, Phoebe Haire, survives her. Helen is also survived by her four children, and their spouses, Roger Gerick, Silver Moon and Frank Perillo, Steve and Dody Gerick, and Lisa Gerick and Lisa Nelson; she is also survived by five grandchildren, Kevlin, Derek, Erin, Steven and Kristin; and four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kevin, Jackson, and Olivia. Helen graduated from high school in Richmond, Va., and later obtained an Associates Degree with Honors from St. Louis Community College. She was employed by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis, Mo. for twenty years. She started out in the steno pool and eventually progressed to become the Director of Housing for the company. Upon retiring, she and her husband moved to Sun City, Ariz. Enjoying the Arizona life style, they decided to build their first new home in Sun City West, enjoying the process of designing and decorating it. At the time there were only a few other houses in the new development. After settling into their new home, they embarked upon a journey of self-discovery, traveling the world together. Helen belonged to the Sun City West Spanish club for many years. She loved reading, painting, cooking, and visiting her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed meeting people and making them laugh. She never knew a stranger. Helen's greatest love was her husband, Steve, with whom she is now "together forever." A mass for Helen will be held at Prince of Peace Church in Sun City West, Ariz. at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July, 9, 2016.
