Health Care: Dr. Scott Finkbeiner is August’s Hometown Hero

After working as a physician leader in both inpatient and outpatient medicine in South Dakota, Dr. Scott Finkbeiner brought his vision of health care to Arizona. In 2014, he started an independent practice in Queen Creek which quickly grew to eight providers in one of the fastest-growing communities in the state.

Finkbeiner is now the chief medical officer for Optima Medical, which provides care to more than 120,000 patients statewide. As the head of Optima’s medical leadership team, he oversees more than 60 medical providers across 14 locations.

His contributions to the Arizona health care community include developing and introducing value-based strategies used on thousands of patients; supervising dozens of providers; partnering with a national organization that focuses on enhancing clinical outcomes; and partnering with the town of Queen Creek to provide COVID -19 tests to town employees and residents.
