Hastings can’t really think he’s serving Dysart students
OPINION — My questions regarding this letter revolve around the 23,118 students who attend a Dysart Unified School District school and Jack Hastings.
The city council voted on a simple proposal to send a letter to DHS asking for clarification. Everyone voted yes except for Hastings, the vice principal of Cimarron Springs Middle School.
How can one man who is supposed to be looking out for all Dysart students, not care? This was a simple letter and his politics and his pockets seem way more important to him than to the students he serves.

As a long-time Dysart family, this man is not someone who should be able to be so politically vocal and then pretend to care about all his students. It’s not physically possible. What would happen if my fifth-grader’s teacher wore a Trump MAGA hat to school?
Are teachers and staff expected to keep their political beliefs to themselves? I have very strong political opinions. However, when it comes to education all students should be able to attend school free from the noise of politics. All this over a simple letter.
Dysart parents stand up to this. As the next one might have completely different political opinions than you. Politics must be left out of school and this man is not capable of that references.
