Harold’s in Cave Creek celebrates 90 years

A small watering hole for the workers of Bartlett and Horseshoe Dams in the 1930s has some big stories of what eventually became Harold’s Cave Creek Corral.

There were rough and tumble times when bullets flew during bar fights with existing bullet holes to prove it and Bengal tigers were on display for patrons — a business decision that would surely make the likes of P.T. Barnum proud.

Actor Dick Van Dyke was once a regular on stage and the likes of Walter Cronkite, Waylon Jennings and Tim McGraw have all made visits to the beer and alcohol room, according to local accounts.
