Nick Haney is joining the Surprise City Council during a contentious era of American politics. But that’s not stopping him from being positive about the future.
“It’s not lost on me that I’m entering the political arena during a challenging time,” Haney told a crowd at City Hall during the Jan. 3 City Council meeting. “This arena can be nasty and divisive. It can be filled with people focused on ego rather than policy, people who resort to personal attacks when they fail to deliver.
“Although it can be challenging, I firmly believe it can be a place of opportunity to do good.”
