Hands off: Police to begin ticketing drivers who text & drive

Law: You drive; you text; you pay

It might be time to finally invest in one of those dashboard cellphone holders — on Jan. 1, drivers can be ticketed for using mobile devices.

Texting, streaming, writing an email, Googling directions — using your cellphone while driving will now cost you money if a police officer sees you doing one of the many mobile actions.

It is illegal in Arizona to talk or text on a cellphone while driving unless the device is in hands-free mode.
