The Handbell Ringers of Sun City, directed by Libbie Randels, will perform a holiday show 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at American Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd.
“Ring a Joyous Christmas” is the title and central theme of the program and some of the selections will include “Oh Sing a Song of Bethlehem” and “Mary, Did You Know?” as well as “First Noel,” with syncopated rhythms as the melody is tossed from the high bells to the lower bass bells, arranged by Michael Mazzatenta. The program will culminate with a rendition of “While By My Sheep,” joined by Dr. James Gerber on American Lutheran’s pipe organ.
This semester 25 ringers have come together Friday mornings to rehearse for this holiday program. The Handbell Ringers of Sun City has been a chartered club with Recreation Centers of Sun City for more than 50 years.
Tickets are $5 and available from ringers or at the door.
