I’m writing in response to Brian Reilly’s letter (“Veterans deserve 30 days of recognition too,” Sun City West Independent, June 14, 2023).
I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Reilly’s comments. America is home of the free because of the brave. LGBTQ-plus individuals have the freedom in this country to express themselves. I’m not here to judge their choices (it’s a free country because of our Veterans); God’s day of judgment is coming. Parents in this country should have the freedom to raise their children without interference, influence or pressure from LGBTQ-plus or others outside of the family. It’s sickening that parents need to sign a waiver to send their school children on a field trip to the zoo but have no say in the LGBTQ-plus indoctrination campaign going on in the schools.
Let’s put this in perspective — veterans are heroes who served our country and gave us the freedoms we all enjoy. Many died or were severely wounded in the process. These men and women deserve more recognition than one day, and they certainly deserve more recognition than people who want to express their sexual preference openly to America and our children.
