In a battle of first time Glendale City Council hopefuls, Dianna Guzman jumped out to a commanding lead in the Yucca District race against Lupe Encinas.
Results released at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 showed 2,921 ballots cast in the district, for a 15.96% percent voter turnout. Guzman has 1,601 votes (60%) while Encinas received 1,067 (40%).
"It's very gratifying because I worked very hard to get that. I had about 25 consistent field team volunteers and we went out three or four times a week. We knocked on over 6,000 doors and phone banked over 5,000 calls," Guzman said. "It was very gratifying to see all that hard work paid off in a victory."
