Griner quieted after monster first half, Lynx beat Mercury 82-76

Brittney Griner looked like she couldn’t be stopped during a 21-point first half where she didn’t miss a shot Wednesday against Minnesota. But the Lynx found an answer in the second half, limited BG to seven points in the half on the way to beat the Mercury 82-76 in Phoenix Suns Arena.

Griner was a perfect 10 of 10 from the field in the first half and 1 of 1 from the line, totaling 21 points. The streak stopped at 10 as she missed the only two shots she took in the third quarter, being held scoreless in the quarter. In total she was 2 of 5 from the field in the second half, including a 3-pointer, and added two more points at the line.

Griner’s perfect shooting half was even more impressive considering she was guarded by Lynx center Sylvia Fowles, who’s made nine All-Defensive Teams.
