There is a place in Sun City West to purchase plants and simultaneously give back to local nonprofit organizations.
The Sun City West Desert Garden Club conducted a grand opening for the new greenhouse at Beardsley Recreation Center, 12755 W. Beardsley Road. Previously, a greenhouse was in the same location that was first built 40 years ago. As the structure began to break down, repairs were made. Until it was decided the repairs would cost more than to replace the old greenhouse.
According to David Wiegand, Sun City West Desert Garden Club, said the initial planning started in 2018. He said the process was tedious, but in December 2021 the club moved out of the old greenhouse before it was knocked down.
