Prior the freeway incident, Ortiz forced his way into an apartment, threatened two victims with a knife, and tried to drag one of them into his vehicle, officials said.
“When officers arrived, he fled, leading police on a vehicle pursuit that ended in a foot chase on the U.S. 60 freeway. Ortiz was ultimately taken into custody after an officer-involved shooting,” the release stated.
Ortiz is being held in custody on a $150,000 cash-only bond and a trial date has not yet been scheduled.
