A Grand Canyon University student was killed in a hit and run while jogging across the street near the school, according to officials.
According to Phoenix Police Department Sgt. Vince Lewis, 21-year-old old Taylor White and an unidentified 17-year-old boy were jogging southbound with a green light inside the crosswalk near 31st Avenue and Camelback Road around 8:20 p.m. Sunday, April 8.
Mr. Lewis said a westbound white SUV drove around several vehicles waiting for their light to change and ran through a red light, striking Mr. White and fleeing westbound.
The 17-year-old boy was not physically injured.
GCU on Monday said Mr. White was a student at the school, and that he was set to be married in about two weeks.
Mr. White was from Colorado Springs, Colorado. His fiancée and brother both also attend GCU.
The suspect vehicle is still outstanding. Investigators said the vehicle is a white 2007-2010 Ford Expedition with damage to the windshield and is missing a passenger side mirror.
Police on Thursday said a reward for information leading to the identity, location and/or arrest of a suspect increased to $5,000.
