The Madison Center for the Arts will celebrate Cinco De Mayo this year with upbeat, classic Mexican music.

Platinum-selling mariachi band Mariachi Sol De México de José Hernández will return to Arizona for a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 5 at Madison Center for the Arts, 5601 N. 16th St., in Phoenix.

Sol de México embraces the romanticism of Mexico’s land, people and beauty of the heart through energy and a rich cultural expression, a press release notes.

Founded in 1981 by Maestro José Hernandez, the platinum-selling mariachi band Sol de México has broken barriers in mariachi music, including becoming the first mariachi ensemble to be nominated for a Grammy. Their original rhythms, fresh sounds and inspiring ideas have energized the world of mariachi for more than 30 years.

Mariachi Sol de México is a traveling cultural icon that symbolizes musicianship and communal cross-generational joy.

Tickets range from $30 to $65.
