GPS, Higley USD schools start class this week

School will be back in session this week for students attending Gilbert Public Schools or Higley Unified School District schools.

Higley USD schools start Monday, July 24, while GPS schools beginTuesday, July 25.

Most Chandler Unified School District students started classes Wednesday, July 19.

Drivers are advised to watch for posted  speed limits and flashing lights near campuses. Also,  be on the lookout for school buses, which move slower and stop more frequently than most traffic.

Also, Gilbert drivers who have a public school in their regular travels should expect extra traffic in the mornings and mid-afternoons.

Higley USD will be led by an interim superintendent this school year, Sherry Richards, while the district conducts a search to replace Dawn Foley, who resigned in June.

Among the changes this school year at Gilbert Public Schools is the addition of more elementary school art classes.

Go to www.gilbertschools.net, www.husd.org or www. cusd80.com for more information on the local school districts.
