Gordon F. PhillipsGordon F. Phillips, 87, Sun City, died Dec. 1, 2006. He was born in Joplin, Mo. on Nov. 9, 1919, the son of Fred and Minnie Phillips. Surviving are Alice, his beloved wife for 61 years; sons, G. Edward, John (Linda); granddaughters, Mary, Nicole and Jodi; grandsons Eric and Chris; great grandchildren, Lyle, Wyatt, Cydney and Lisa. Gordon and Alice moved from Pittsburg, Kan. to Sun City in 1979 after he retired as a freight conductor for 38 years for the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Gordon very soon became a volunteer in the Sun City Posse and later at the Westside Food Bank. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion. Memberships were also held in the First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, High-12 Club and the Shriners. Memorial services have been held. Memorials in Gordon's name may be made to the Shriners' Hospitals for Children.
