Goodyear’s nonunion employees to get raises in January

Pandemic revenues $20 million more than estimated

City of Goodyear employees will begin the new year with a little more money in their pockets.

The City Council unanimously approved a recommendation by Lauri Wingenroth, finance manager of budget and research, for mid-year budget changes that included 2.5% merit raises for those who haven’t reached the top of their pay ranges, and a $1.25% lump sum for those at the top of their pay ranges.

The increases, which apply to nonunion employees, will go into effect with the pay period beginning Jan. 10. Union employees in the city’s fire and police departments received raises at the beginning of the fiscal year in July because their contracts were approved prior to the pandemic, Ms. Wingenroth said.
