Goodyear school slated for water monitoring well to test for ‘forever chemical’ PFAS

The Agua Fria School District governing board is slated to consider and approve a consent agenda item tied to a federal investigation of groundwater contamination of an Environmental Protection Agency-designated hazardous chemical potentially in the district's area of operation.

According to the Arizona open meeting law booklet, consent agenda items are typically approved without discussion in public meetings, are placed on the consent agenda as a "time-saving device," and are "unlikely to generate controversy."

U.S. Air Force representatives and engineers around Luke Air Force Base are trying to delineate how far and at what concentration a "forever chemical" called PFAS has shed from the base’s fire training area to the surrounding West Valley area.
