Goodyear Police are asking news agencies to retract a published photo of a Black minor they claimed was an adult man who was allegedly a suspect in an indecent exposure incident.
Lisa Berry, public information officer for Goodyear Police, asked the news agencies to sanitize the story, pending completion of an investigation Wednesday.
“We saw that several news outlets picked up the story and aired it on the news, we thank you for the assistance in getting this information out to the public,” she said. “Thanks to tips that came in as a result of these efforts, the subject has been identified and is a minor. Due to the fact that he is a minor, we have removed the posts and ask that you do the same if you shared our post and also ask that you not air the photograph anymore.”
