Police apprehended a suspect in the shooting of a Chandler man in Goodyear Wednesday.
Goodyear officers responded to a disturbance call near 155th Lane and Meade Lane on Wednesday at 7 p.m. According to Goodyear Police, the response saw the incident turn into a shooting.
The victim of the shooting, 53-year-old Robert Marshall of Chandler, suffered a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention at the scene and subsequent transportation to the hospital, Marshall died from his injuries. According to Goodyear Police, the incident was isolated, and there was no current danger to the public.
The suspect, 20-year-old Amarei Hunter of Goodyear, was taken into custody without incident shortly after the shooting occurred. The suspect and victim allegedly knew each other before the incident.
According to Goodyear Police, Hunter was booked on second-degree murder charges. An investigation is ongoing.
