Voters in the city of Goodyear appear to have passed three bond measures Tuesday in initial results despite high retiree and conservative ballot turnout. Conservatives have historically voted not to sign off on new spending.
On Nov. 7, the Arizona GOP called upon voters to vote no to school bond and overrides on Twitter.
“Today's vote is crucial. School bonds & overrides equal more tax burdens for us all. It's time for responsible spending, not reckless taxing,” it wrote. “Stand with us for accountable, efficient government. Vote NO on tax increases.“
