Goodyear mayoral candidate withdraws from race citing health concerns

Former Goodyear City Council member Bill Stipp has withdrawn from the city’s mayoral race, citing health concerns following a recent medical diagnosis.

Stipp announced he is ending his campaign after an unexpected finding during an MRI led him to seek treatment at City of Hope Cancer Center. In a statement, he said the treatment will require the time and energy he had planned to devote to the campaign.

“It is with optimism and yet a heavy heart that I am forced to end my campaign for mayor,” Stipp said. “While my circumstance is certainly life-altering, it is not life-ending. I must take a hard look at what matters most in life.”
