Goodyear invests in fire station washers to protect against chemical hazards

Studies show firefighters are a high risk for cancer diagnoses

Goodyear has become the first city in the Southwest to install special decontamination washers in three of its fire stations.

The Solo Rescue Decon Washers are meant to help decontaminate firefighters’ gear and reduce their risk of exposure to hazardous and cancer-causing chemicals.

Contaminated gear is placed in the rotating basket of the Solo Rescue, which resembles a futuristic, front-loading washing machine.
