Mayor Georgia Lord couldn’t have asked for a more exciting birthday present.
As construction crews worked behind her April 23, Mayor Lord received a standing ovation as she made her way to the podium during a small, socially distanced groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ.
Hosted by the city, Globe Corp. and Ryan Cos., the event emceed by City Manager Julie Karins and attended by dignitaries that included state legislators and community partners marked the beginning of a 14-month, $88 million construction project that will see a four-story City Hall, library, three-story Globe Corp. Class A office building and parking garage rise around a 2-acre park at McDowell Road and 150th Avenue.
