Goodyear will roll out the city’s first public ambulance service Friday to supplement the privately contracted service.
According to Mayor Joe Pizzillo, the city will continue to enlist the services of Maricopa Ambulance, a regional contracted provider, as it builds out its fleet during the next five years.
“For many years, the fire department relied on a contracted private ambulance provider to transport emergency patients to the hospital,” he said. “While there was no disruption in service to the community, the fire department leadership worked with council to evaluate the feasibility of providing our ambulance service.”
