Goodyear discusses lawsuit over PFAS, a 'forever-chemical' in water

The Goodyear city council discussed Monday potentially joining a class-action lawsuit against manufacturers of PFAS, a group of products often called "forever chemicals" found in water.

According to a city representative, the council met Nov. 13 to consider ligation to help prevent water supplies from reaching unsafe levels.

“The Goodyear City Council met on Nov. 13, 2023, to discuss potentially joining a class-action lawsuit having to do with the impacts of PFAS in communities,” Goodyear said in a statement. “Many other communities nationwide are considering possible legal action. While there are no immediate concerns about unsafe levels of PFAS in Goodyear’s water supply, the city is considering joining the legal efforts to mitigate any future impacts of the substance to our community.”
