The city of Goodyear may soon offer an Uber-like ride-sharing service operating in a limited scope of the city in a one-year pilot program costing an estimated $1 million.
The so-called "micro transit" option was most recently discussed at a Jan. 31 city council meeting. While it did not come to a vote, the council seemed unanimously supportive.
The goal, said the project management coordinator Christine McMurdy, is to make it easier for Goodyear’s most vulnerable residents to get to their destination in a car-dependent city with severely limited public transit options.
