Goodyear clamps down on short-term rentals

New regulations go into effect Jan. 1

The city of Goodyear has become one of the latest municipalities to implement an ordinance regulating short-term rentals within city limits.

Short-term rentals, like those advertised on sites like Airbnb and Vrbo,  once fully unregulated, have come under increased scrutiny over the last few years.

Back in July, Gov. Doug Ducey signed SB 1168, giving municipalities greater leeway to regulate short-term rentals within their jurisdiction. That law went into effect Sept. 24, and permits cities to pass ordinances requiring rental owners to apply for a license and impose fines when oridnances are violated.
