Goodyear announces new city council member

Posted

Goodyear City Council announced Tuesday it had selected Patrick Bray to fill the vacancy on the seven-member council.

The council interviewed their shortlist of candidates for several hours before announcing it selected Bray, who just left his position as chair of the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission.  He was a commissioner for nine years and served as chair for five.

Bray has stated he will not seek to retain his spot on the council when his term ends in December 2022.

Bray's city council application and resume, obtained by The Independent through public records request.

Bray, a Goodyear resident since 2008, has long worked for the  Arizona cattle lobby, and is currently the executive vice president of the Arizona Farm and Ranch Group.  He is also a  former Republican Precinct Committeeman for Legislative District 4.

On his council application, he listed growth, budget and water as his top three concerns but answers in general terms how he intends to approach these issues.

Bray advocates “investing resources now so that our long term future is secure.”

“We have to work with elected officials, staff and the citizens to continue to address the issues we face," he wrote.
