Kynleigh Taylor of Gold Canyon has had to manage the art of balance on and off the ice, taking high school and college courses while training in competitive figure skating.
“This past weekend was my first competition of the season in Colorado. It was the first time I did my free skate — long program — in competition, and I got first place. I also earned third place in my short program,” she said. “My next competition is in mid-April in Arizona, and I will be competing in Las Vegas in May.”
Taylor, 18, began competitive figure skating seven years ago. Previously she qualified and competed at the Excel National Finals, earned the designation “U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist” for passing senior skating moves in field tests, and this year she landed her triple Salchow figure skating jump, it states in a release.
