Gold Canyon chamber seeks $86K grant in tribal gaming compact funds

The Gold Canyon Chamber of Commerce is seeking an $86,000 grant to in part educate visitors to the area of the dangers of hiking in the Tonto National Forest and ATV use in the desert.

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors on March 15 voted unanimously on a consent agenda with other items to approve a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application for the Gila River Indian Community Shared Revenue Program and for Pinal County to serve as the fiscal agent.

There is no fiscal impact to Pinal County for the chamber’s grant request for an education initiative. Proposition 202 requires nonprofits apply through a unit of local government. Pinal County will serve as the fiscal agent and pass-through entity, it states.
