A GoFundMe for two young adults killed in a rollover in Buckeye has raised nearly $28,000 in less than three days since the crash.
Adnan Hedzic, 20, and Melissa Buljubasic, 19, were occupants in a vehicle that rolled over around 4 p.m. Monday on Interstate 10 and Watson Road. Mr. Hedzic died at the scene. Ms. Buljubasic was taken to the hospital, where she died.
Three other occupants were treated for injuries.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety continues to investigate what led to the single-vehicle collision.
A GoFundMe for Mr. Hedzic and Ms. Buljubasic has been shared nearly 900 times with almost 300 donors.
A Phoenix-based non-profit cultural organization for Bosnia and Herzegovina told Daily Independent on Facebook that the funds from the GoFundMe will be split between the victims' families. It will also help transport the body of Mr. Hedzic to his family in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to a post on the account.
According to his Facebook profile, Mr. Hedzic started attending the University of Arizona in 2016.
According to MaxPreps, a national high school sports website, Ms. Buljubasic graduated from Phoenix Washington High School in 2018 and is listed under the girl’s basketball team roster.
She was also a member of the dance group at K.U.D. Izvor, the non-profit cultural organization.
"This is a very big loss for every one of us," the organization stated on Facebook.
